“I had the idea for this needlepoint when looking out of the beautiful old stone window of a friend's house. Her garden was not as formal as the one I've depicted but the colour of the stone surrounds was so soft by comparison, I liked the idea of a fairly structured view. Another feature of the work that appeals to me is the three cushions shown on the window seat. Though not precisely a trompe l'oeil, the stitching a cushion with the likeness of a stitched cushion is a gentle joke”. Jill Gordon
